Our Journey

Since 1985 the hotel has been owned by 3 proprietors. As of October 25, 2012 the hotel was sold and we began its revitalization.

During our 6 month renovation the hotel has done everything possible to re-cycle, re-use and repurpose all of the materials removed from the various areas. This includes many donations to the following charities; Desert Aids Project, Angel View, Operation Blankets of Love (a charity that provides blankets and donations to pet shelters /rescue groups throughout California) and Palm Springs High School. All of the old furniture, linens, carpets, lighting, window treatments and even the wood trim around the window encasements, was recycled, re-used, repurposed or donated.

A couple of facts; our recycling and towel bins at the pool are made from the window sills removed during the room renovation. And more exciting is our collaboration with the Palm Springs High School Woodshop (we couldn’t believe woodshop still exist in our high schools!); we asked them if they could reinvent the wood window sills into what is now our wood amenity trays in our guest bathrooms. The High School students came through with flying colors; our hats off to the Palm Springs High School Woodshop. Any of the remaining materials were donated to the school which will be used for future projects such as Picture Frames.

Our Green journey continues; The Monroe was most recently rewarded a “Green Leader and Partner” of Trip Advisor. We are committed to environment and employ green practices where ever possible. Everything from Towel and Linen re-use programs to recycling products; our green practices don’t stop there. Every effort from purchases of products, to employing green practices with staff, we are doing our best to preserve our precious resources.
